WASHINGTON D.C., – June 18, 2020 – Earth & Water Law announced today that Joe Dawley will join its growing team of partners. Dawley holds deep expertise in environmental and safety compliance, government relations, permitting, and strategic regulatory analysis. With more than 30 years of experience as an environmental and regulatory attorney, he provides legal and regulatory guidance with a relentless passion for finding solutions, leveraging his engineering background to successfully guide technical teams through political and regulatory processes.

“Joe is a talented lawyer with a passion to develop creative solutions to manage business, regulatory, and political risk. His extensive knowledge of the oil and gas production and midstream industries will add to the depth of services that Earth and Water offers to our clients, which will be particularly helpful during this time of increased regulatory and economic uncertainty.” said Brent Fewell, Founder and Chair of Earth & Water Law.

“I am excited to be part of the Earth and Water Law team and apply my background and experience to develop practical and business-oriented solutions for our clients that are a win-win for the economy and the environment,” said Dawley, an expert in environmental and regulatory affairs with extensive experience in public policy and government affairs.

Previously, Dawley led the highly complex regulatory and permitting strategy and political engagement for EQT Corporation’s 300-mile Mountain Valley Pipeline as Deputy General Counsel of Environmental and Government Affairs and Public Policy. Not only did he spearhead EQT’s regulatory affairs, lobbying functions, safety compliance, and ESG strategy, but he also engaged in industry methane reduction initiatives, drafted the company’s first climate resiliency report, and opened productive dialogues with socially responsible investors and lenders.

A licensed Professional Engineer, Dawley received a B.S. in chemical engineering from Syracuse University. He received his J.D. from Lewis and Clark College of Law with a certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law. Dawley leverages a diverse professional foundation in law, engineering, and government, including the General Counsel of the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection.
