Congress, amend the Endangered Species Act

In a new op-ed titled “Congress, amend the Endangered Species Act,” featured in The Washington Times and authored by Aurelia Giacometto and Brent Fewell of Earth & Water Law, the authors argue that it’s time to modernize the Endangered Species Act (ESA) so it better delivers on its founding promise: recovering imperiled species and returning them to thriving populations.

More than five decades in, the ESA’s recovery record shows we can do better for wildlife — and Rep. Bruce Westerman’s proposed amendments offer a constructive starting point for reforms focused on real, measurable species recovery.
